Heritage Organic Wool Duvets come with 100% British GOTS-certified organic wool that offers beautiful, unparalleled comfort. It starts with raw scoured organic wool and runs through our 1960s garnet carding machine. (Snug Sleep are one of a few companies still using these old-school machines in North America.). This takes raw, tangled wool and brushes them into straight aligned beautiful wool that then gets sandwiched between two soft GOTS-certified organic cotton covers. Duvets are then quilted to keep the wool even to avoid any cold spots. The last step manufacturing step is sewing on the edge-binding, so the wool keeps to the edges to prevent any pullback.

To complement the GOTS-certified organic wool, we use beautiful sateen organic cotton covers with a 260 thread count. The thread count compliments the function of wool which allows airflow. This soft silky cotton comes with the GOTS certification (Global Organic Textile Standards) that is grown and picked in Turkey.

Organic and Pure Wools are entirely natural and biodegradable fibres (note that washable wool isn’t biodegradable). It’s also a renewable resource, as sheep produce new wool yearly.

Wool is also one of the most thermally efficient fibres, providing excellent insulation. In fact, it’s been used for centuries as a material for clothing and bedding, as it’s able to keep you warm in winter and cool in summer.

As well as being an excellent insulator, wool is also moisture-wicking, which helps draw sweat and moisture away from your body. This can improve sleep quality as it helps to regulate your body temperature.

Wool is also an excellent flame retardant material as it has a high ignition temperature. This means it’s much less likely to catch fire and will self-extinguish if it does come into contact with a naked flame.

Finally, wool is naturally hypoallergenic and dust mite resistant, making it an ideal material for those with allergies or asthma.
